Ambassador Martha Bárcena was snubbed
Yesterday, during the meeting between President Andrés Manuel López Obrador with ambassadors and consuls , someone from the Foreign Ministry was rude to Mexico’s ambassador to the U.S., Martha Bárcena . The Mexican ambassador, who has a long career and leads the most important diplomatic mission for the Mexican government, was seated in the last row. After the insult, which made the rounds on social media , someone from the President’s team intervened and asked the ambassador to sit in the front row. Some ambassadors consider that this incident was caused by someone who thought it would be a good idea to dismiss Martha Bárcena and that their boss would thank them but the plan actually backfired.
Expensive renovations at the Senate
It seems like in the Senate , no one thinks its unusual that a building completed in 2011 already needs reparations that will cost MXN $254 million . We’ve been reminded that back in 2011 when the building was inaugurated, there was a lot of criticism because of its price and for all of its flaws . Moreover, back in those days, senator Ricardo Monreal opposed the construction of the building and criticism of the project but now supports the reparations.
Doctors and nurses are asking for help
We’ve been told that on January 10, doctors and nurses working at the 300 urban clinics managed by the IMSS , which disappeared since August 2019 , will protest outside the President’s office so that they are hired once again, as promised. Back then, the head of the IMSS, Zoé Robledo Aburto , said that the staff would be hired to work at rural clinics . Nevertheless, we’ve been told that doctors and nurses in Guanajuato , Guerrero , Michoacán , Oaxaca , the state of Mexico , and Mexico City are still waiting to be hired. They believe that by telling their situation to the President , he will help them.
