According to the association, every hotel is doing the proper structural evaluation to their buildings through the Mexican Chamber of Construction Industry ( Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción abbreviated CMIC ) along with the association's own architecture firms.

“After the earthquake, hotel occupancy rate fell from 100% to 50% , in most cases, and from 80% to 40% , in others. Last week, even hotels were reported completely empty , yet on Monday the occupancy rate reached 15% ,” said the AHMC.

The occupancy rate in Zona Rosa , Juárez , Roma , Condesa and surrounding areas of Mexico's downtow n were the most affected.

AHCM expects 60% of canceled reservations for at least the next two weeks.
