69 turtles and 1 dolphin found dead on Mexican beach

At least 69 turtles and a dolphin have been found dead in the last week in beaches in Acapulco , Coyuca de Benítez , and San Jerónimo , in the state of Guerrero .

a, a member of Guerrero's Board for the Care, Protection, and Research of the Sea Turtle , explained that the species found were Chelonia agassizii and Lepidochelys olivacea .

explained that on Sunday, they found 9 dead turtles on the El Carrizal beach : seven female and two males.

In total, 69 turtles have been found dead in Guerrero beache s, also, they found a dead dolphin . The cause of death has yet to be determined.

The activist explains that in Coyuca de Benítez , around 600 turtles are poached each year to sell their meat and eggs .

On the other hand, Guerrero's Environment and Natural Resources Ministry (Semaren) said it was unlikely that the animals died as a result of poaching and that the animals died at sea .
