Peña and Macron reinforce relations

Both Presidents decided to reinforce ties in terms of politics, commerce, and international cooperation

The Presidents of Mexico and France , Enrique Peña Nieto and Emmanuel Macron, agreed to strengthen the strategic relationship between the two nations in terms of politics, commerce, and international cooperation.

In the Élysée Palace , after holding their first bilateral meeting, the leaders established a firm commitment to promote the Paris Agreement and announced the renewal of the Franco-Mexican Business Council.

President Peña Nieto stated: "We have decided to strengthen the strategic partnership that both countries have, which has allowed the growth of French investments , almost two-thirds, 75% of the historic investment that France has made in our country in the last four years."

He said that this shows the vitality of the relations between France and Mexico and the shared interest of the two governments to continue promoting this dynamic ties between the two nations.

He assured that Mexico and France believe in trade openness, multilateralism, and globalization, and seek to find opportunities to boost the development of our societies.

He explained that both governments have decided to advance in the renewal of the Franco-Mexican Strategic Council that has led to important projects and ideas, generating investments, partnerships between companies and daily flights on the Airbus 380 .

Peña Nieto said that he asked President Macron for support in the process of renegotiating the Global Agreement with the European Union in the political, cooperation and trade fields to modernize this agreement "and France's support is certainly relevant and crucial."
