US ambassador to Mexico, Roberta Jacobson , asked the country's students that on the face of the changes in the United States , they speak of the real Mexico .
In a ceremony where 99 Mexican students received the Fulbright-García Robles scholarship, she said that in the last year her country has experienced adjustments that have affected the relationship with Mexico. However, many exchange aspects persist, such as the educational one.
She recalled that a year ago , when she arrived in Mexico, she also talked to a group of scholarship holders: “Since the time I addressed the first group of students a year ago, many things have changed: the US elected new President , Mexico held elections in key states and shifts in our bilateral relation have taken place. But the truth is that many things have remained. Leaders on both sides of the border recognize that today is more important than ever to preserve our ties .”
Jacobson remarked the relevance of educational exchange and asked the students to expose the true Mexico.
“Take your time to inform my fellow citizens about the real Mexico and the connection that exists between both nations,” she told them.
