Peña and Mancera moving on
New to the charge as president of the National Conference of Governors (CONAGO), Mexico City's Governor, Miguel Angel Mancera, challenged the members of the forum to walk the line of agreements. The arrival of Mr. Mancera at the presidency produced high expectations and a positive environment. That's why he seemed relaxed and happy when he exchanged points of view with Mexico's President, Enrique Peña Nieto, and the Secretary of Defense, Salvador Cienfuegos. We were told that Governor and General talked about security, mostly the strengthening of measures against illegal possession of firearms and the improvement of the so-called C4. With the President, he exchanged opinions on the lectures of the speakers. He certainly seemed close with Mr. Peña Nieto, like during the first few days of his period.
Murat, close to Ochoa Reza
During a meeting they had last Tuesday, the former federal deputies of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), who formed the 60th legislation, around 2006-2009, and under the leadership of Emilio Gamboa Patrón, it was quite noticeable that the president of the party, Enrique Ochoa Reza has become close with the ex-Governor of Oaxaca, José Murat, who is the current head of the Colossio Foundation. Among the participants, people commented on the power that Mr. José has within the party; some kind of counselor who whispers on Mr. Ochoa Reza's ears. We were confirmed that the figure that unified the party was Senator Gamboa Patrón, with whom everyone seems to be closing ranks acknowledging his leadership over the coordination of the PRI senators. By the way, Mr. Emilio is traveling to Nayarit today in order to stand side by side with the party's candidate to the government of the state, Manuel Cota. Next week he will accompany Alfredo del Mazo in the State of Mexico as well.
Delfina's treasures
We were told that Delfina Gomez, the candidate of MORENA to the State of Mexico's government, won't let a single day go by without praising or flattering the leader of her party, Andres Manuel López Obrador, even if the man from Tabasco is not present at the event. Ms. Delfina has stated in her last meetings that her party has two big treasures: The citizens as well as Mr. Lopez Obrador himself. She even repeats in her speeches several phrases that Mr. López Obrador has made popular, and every time she does, she is cheered by the crowd.
Good news from Pemex
Great expectations caused the participation of Pemex's CEO, José Antonio González Anaya, in the Annual Maritime Oil Technology reunion, held in Houston with representatives of eight thousand companies from across the globe. During his intervention, Mr. González made it clear that the complex productive situation of the State has been overcome in the last twelve months, also that its finances became stable and that production, which was in free fall, achieved a great balance. We were told that the interest of the heads of the international industry on the transformation of PEMEX was notorious. Besides, the visit of the leader of the company to Texas came along with good news: A remarkable profit of 87 million pesos in the first trimester of 2017, a figure that hadn't been reached in the last six years.
