Enough is enough
That the expression of ideas is not subject to any form of persecution constitutes an essential principle of freedom of speech and of the exercise of the journalistic endeavour. In Mexico, impunity, corruption and the organized crime, in particular, have endangered the fundamental duty of keeping society informed.
As communicators, we denounce the murderous offensive experienced by members of our guild, during the exercise of their informative duty, in the investigation and disclosure of criminal activities, namely, drug violence in Mexico.
United through a single voice, we are to summon a series of forums to agree upon the measures to face the threats and attacks against our journalistic endeavours.
Another fundamental principle of freedom of speech in our country is that the right to information is guaranteed by the State; we demand its observance more than ever, and we call for the safety of all Mexican journalists, as well as that of those who exercise journalism in Mexico and for the good of society.
