Starting next June 1st, the private home lodging platform, Airbnb, will have to pay to the government of Mexico City, a tax of 3% for the provision of lodging services.

This agreement is the first of its kind in Latin America and corresponds to the tax code reform of Mexico City approved last December 20th, 2016, which regulates the operations of companies that offer shared hosting through the internet. The tax will be collected from the total payment that the traveler makes to the host.
