Mi Ranchito is a night club controlled by the Independent Cartel of Acapulco (CIDA), located in a former red zone of Acapulco, Guerrero. This is a place where hard drinks, cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy and prostitution abound and which has been under CIDA’s control after its owner was disappeared allegedly by the cartel, as stated by local authorities.
On the evening of February 8, Alexander Friedrich Alvear arrived to Mi Ranchito, accompanied by his brother in-law. The two sat at a table and ordered something to drink. Alexander had married a local woman a day before, and was preparing for a honeymoon in Germany to start on February 10.
During the early hours of Thursday 9 a group of men beat and tortured them before shooting both dead inside the night club, as noted by experts of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
Police arrived early on Thursday and were received by fourteen sicarios (hitmen) amidst intense shooting. In the end, police agents arrested a man and a woman, while the rest of the assailants managed to escape. However, the sicarios had been fully identified and the correspondent arrest warrant has been issued for their arrest, as noted by Olea Peláez, Attorney from the FGE.
Authorities informed that no drugs were found in the victims bodies after the autopsy, but the trace of alcoholic beverages.
“It is clear that the German and his brother in-law came to the wrong place, however, we do not know why they came here in the first place”, noted Olea Peláez.
