Israel apologizes to Mexico over Netanyahu wall tweet

President Rivlin's office said he told the Mexican president in a phone call that there has been a misunderstanding

President of Israel Reuven Rivlin apologized to President Enrique Peña Nieto for a tweet posted by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

President Rivlin's office said he told the Mexican president in a phone call that there has been a misunderstanding.

Netanyahu wrote on Twitter "President Trump is right. I built a wall along Israel's southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea."

The Israeli prime minister also said the tweet was meant just to draw attention to the success of Israel's fence.

Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray demanded an apology for such tweet.
