Guerrero prosecutor launches investigation into murder of 3 detectives

Guerrero's state prosecutor has launched an investigation into the death of three federal detectives who were found in the bed of a burning pickup truck in the southern Mexico resort of Zihuatanejo.

State Governor Héctor Astudillo Flores condemned the murder of the agents and expressed his commitment to bringing those responsible to justice.

The brutal event took place on a highway just steps away from a middle school and only 100 meters (328 feet) from a federal police station. The men allegedly left behind a message at the scene of the crime presumably as a warning to officials.
