The Attorney General of the State of Mexico (PGJEM) arrested Mario Alberto "N" and José Pedro "N", alleged suspects of the murder of actor and TV host Renato López and his public relations manager Omar Girón, whose bodies were found with bullet wounds inside a vehicle in the municipality of Jilotzingo on November 24.
Based on the investigation, it was a direct attack against the actor because there was no robbery and no kidnapping, López was shot 13 times, the victims did not put up a fight and their seat belts were still buckled, said Prosecutor Alejandro Gómez Sánchez at a press conference.
The state prosecutor also said that the motive of the killing appears to be an act of “emotional revenge” against the actor by an unidentified woman.
The surveillance cameras detected a black truck, allegedly driven by the suspects, following the car of López and Girón when they were heading to a meeting with a man named Carlos Morales on Wednesday, November 23 for work-related issues near Atizapán, located 16 kilometers from the spot where the bodies were found.
Gómez said that the investigation is still ongoing and the authorities will proceed to take the statement of the detainees.
