The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) announced Picasso and Rivera: Conversations Across Time, an exhibition about the moments of intersection in the formation of modernism both in Europe and Latin America.
The exhibition compares Pablo Picasso and Diego Rivera trajectories, beginning with their similar academic training to their shared investment in Cubism and their return to an engagement with antiquity from the 1920s through the 1950s.
Picasso and Rivera: Conversations Across Time features over 100 paintings and etchings and also Greco-Roman, Iberian and Aztec objects that influenced both artists' works.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Palacio de Bellas Artes museum in Mexico City organized this exhibition.
The exhibit will remain at the LACMA until May 7, then it will travel to Mexico City to be displayed at Palacio de Bellas Artes Museum from June 14 to September 17, 2017.
