A Mexican born in Guadalajara who is the suspect in a 1983 Texas murder was added to the FBI's 10 most wanted list.
The FBI is offering a 100,000-dollar reward for anyone who knows the location of Robert Francis Van Wisse, who also goes by Francisco Salas and Roberto Francisco Salas.
Robert is accused of strangling a 22-year-old Laurie Stout to death at the University of Texas at Austin when he was only 19 years old. Although Robert has been on the run for over two decades now, U.S. authorities say they will continue looking for him until there is justice for Laurie.
Laurie's remains were found in a hall inside the University, and investigators confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted and strangled to death with a cable.
The case remained unsolved until 1992, when investigators were able to confirm that Robert's DNA was found at the scene of the crime.
The FBI believes that Robert may have fled to Mexico because his family members own property in Mexico and Guatemala, and the last place he is known to have been was in Mexico where he taught English.
The FBI asked Mexico to provide any information that it may have on the whereabouts of Robert Van Wisse to the U.S. embassy.
