Fidel Castro had a fondness for Mexico, says Mexico President Peña Nieto

Peña Nieto recounted how Mexico gave Fidel Castro and his brother Raúl asylum before starting their journey to Cuba and launching the Cuban revolution.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, who gave a eulogy during the funeral services of Fidel Castro, said that the leader of the Cuban revolution loved Mexico, and that he always had a fondness for our country, just like millions of Cubans feel about Mexico and millions of Mexicans about Cuba.

During his eulogy, Peña Nieto emphasized the unconditional friendship with the Cuban people and praised Cuba's steps towards creating a more open economy.

He also said that Fidel Castro always promoted a bilateral relationship with Mexico based on respect, dialog and solidarity.
