Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto will travel to Havana to attend the funeral of the Cuban leader Fidel Castro.
According to the government, the president will be accompanied by a small group of officials.
It is expected that president Peña Nieto attends the funeral of the Cuban revolutionary leader, who died on Friday at the age of 90, and returns to Mexico in less than 24 hours.
Cuba's State Council announced 9 days of national mourning for Castro's death until December 4, when his ashes are interred in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in the city of Santiago. A funeral service is set to begin at 7 a.m. ET.
The Cuban flag will fly at half-mast outside public and military establishments, and the state radio and television "will maintain informative, patriotic and historic programming”, according to the statement released by the state council.
