Police authorities reported the death of another migrant in Veracruz, after a group of 60 people was abandoned inside of a trailer truck by people smugglers on Wednesday.
The migrants died "as a result of asphyxiation and dehydration, since they did not receive food or water for more than 48 hours," the Mexican National Migration Institute said in a statement.
The fifth victim, whose identity is still unknown, died in a hospital located in the city of Tres Valles.
The Central American migrants were locked in the back of a truck made to look like it was from Mexico's mail service, the immigration agency added.
It also said the group of migrants paid about US$930 each to be smuggled from Guatemala to Mexico's northern border with the United States.
