To celebrate Hotel Geneve's 100th anniversary and its glorious past, Roberto Slim, general director of the Ostar Hotel Group, launched a research, renovation and remodeling project for the hotel between 2007 and 2011. The result? A one-of-a-kind classical and elegant hotel museum. It's magnificent lobby embodies the classical French architecture popular at the time, with marble and brass finishes, and incredibly elaborate and original carpentry and ironsmith work.

There you can sit on antique Louis XV Bergere chairs, gondola chairs, enjoy the XVIII century gold-plated Florentine mirrors or walk on white Thassos marble. There's even a 270-square-foot neogothic stained glass window and a neoclassical chimney.

The library houses a vast collection of antique books, eight oil paintings from the XVIII century and religious and decorative items. Porfirio Diaz, who served as Mexico's president from 1884–1911, is the star of the hotel's veranda, where his bust can be found dating from 1886 and an oil painting for which he posed in 1903.

Next to the veranda is a collection of objects that recount the history's museum, including personal objects belonging to the hotel's most famous guests, such as Porfirio Diaz, Winston Churchill, Charles Lindbergh, Marlon Brando and Felipe Gonzalez.

There's also a collection of six books from between 1909 and 1926, which include two employee books with names from all over the world and 11 accounting books with interesting entries such as a check from Porfirio Diaz who paid for a meal for him and his family on November 20, 1910, during the beginning of the Mexican revolution.

Finally, the Phone Bar has a collection of 29 antique phones from between 1881 and 1934. The bar also houses an antique veneer piano that belonged to the world-renowned composer Agustín Lara, as well as the world's largest obsidian piece.
