Fire in PEMEX fuel tanker in Veracruz is finally controlled after 30 hours.
Firefighting foam was used by nine tug boats from the Veracruz Maritime Adminstration and by units of the Mexican Navy which have kept fire of fuel tanker Burgos under control.
Monitoring of the tanker will continue to prevent fire from resurfacing; fuel tanker Burgos carried 167,000 fuel barrels which burned yesterday without reports of injured people or fuel leaks in the Gulf of Mexico being made.
Carlos Regules, head of the Agency of Environment and Energy Security, thanked the intervention of the Navy in the evacuation of all crew members and in the control of the fire.
Investigations on the causes and environmental impact of the fire are currently underway.
