Mexican boxer Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez fractured his right hand during the Saturday night fight against Liam Smith, so he will not fight again in 2016.
The junior middleweight champion visited specialist Dr. Pedro Jaime Lomeli and after taking x-rays and conducting a CT scan, the doctor found a fracture of the right thumb.
According to the doctor, he will not need surgery and the prognosis is good.
Canelo's hand will be immobilized for the next six weeks.
