'Earl' leaves six dead in Veracruz

The death toll has risen to six people after “Earl” landed in the state of Veracruz.

Reports of Civil Protection and local authorities said that mudslides occurred in the municipalities of Tequila and Coscomatepec, burying two houses and leaving six dead.

In Xalapa, the collapse of two houses left two injured.

The Mexican Army launched the DN-III Plan to aid population and rescue the bodies trapped under tons of mud and rubble.

The storm's maximum wind speed had dropped from 50 mph (80 kmh) to 35 mph (56 kmh) by Saturday morning, according to the Miami-based center.
