Spaniard arrested at Mexico City Airport trying to smuggle 135 birds

The birds, some of them protected by the Ministry of the Environment, were hidden inside the man's luggage.

A Spanish citizen was caught by the Federal Attorney's Office for Environmental Protection (Profepa) at the Mexico City International Airport when trying to smuggle 135 birds, some of them protected by the Ministry of the Environment's Regulation number 59.

The man was turned over to the Public Prosecutor Office.

Via Twitter, Profepa reported that the man tried to travel to Spain with the bids hidden inside his luggage.
