Roberto Campa Cifrián, head of Human Rights Affairs for the Interior Ministry, reported that the authorities have confirmed eight people killed during the clash last June 19 in Nochixtlán, Oaxaca.

But his statement was contradicted by Itaye Cruz Guevara, member of the Comité de Nochixtlan organization, who is reporting 11 people killed and 58 wounded.

"The investigation is being conducted regarding eight people killed. The report from the (Office of the Attorney General) refers to eight people," expressed Campa Cifrián.

He added that the number of 58 wounded is only mentioned by the Comité.

Cruz Guevara said that the organization is asking the Interior Ministry to admit that 11 people were killed, because "the reparation of the damages has to go further. We are talking about the right for the historical truth, a public apology and keeping the incident from happening again."
