National Human Rights Commission condemns killing of activist

The state prosecutor's office said Thursday that three gunmen pulled up to the victims' vehicle and opened fire with high-powered weapons.

The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) condemned the killing of José Jesús Jiménez Gaona, member of the National Search Brigade for Disappeared Persons, which occurred in Poza Rica, Veracruz.

In a statement, the commission called on the authorities of Veracruz for precautionary measures for Francisca Vázquez Mendoza, widow of the victim, in order to preserve her physical integrity, also demanded a throughout investigation and punishment for those responsible.

The CNDH also said that they sent personnel to Veracruz in order to provide support and assistance to the victims.
