The Mexican Senate was unable to reach an agreement regarding cannabis during its current session and in consequence, it will move the subject to the next one.
Most of the disagreements came from the fact that ruling Revolutionary Institutional Party and its ally, the Green Party, are supportive of the medical and science use of the drug, while left-wing Democratic Revolution Party and some members of the right-wing National Action Party support turning the possession of small amounts of the drug from a crime to a minor offense.
According to independent Senator Martha Tagle the subject will be considering starting September.
