While members of the group were crossing the highway towards the esplanade they were run over by a small car.

The inhabitants of the area have been using the esplanade to protest from time to time, and sometimes they have the support of the transit authorities due to the danger that represents walking over the busy road to reach the place.

The victims were identified as 69-year-old Gloria Rivera Martínez and 74-year-old Teresa Bravo Barragán.
