The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CMEA), which covers the area of the central Valley of Mexico, reported that phase one of the environmental contingency continues in place over the area of Mexico City and the State of Mexico.
At 10:00 a.m., the agency reported that "a high-pressure system with moderate to strong intensity in the central region of the country ... generates atmospheric stability, weak winds, and moderate humidity, as well as a misty environment".
These factors will lead to the concentration of ozone precursors in the area and their stagnation in the atmosphere, with a full production of the pollutant expected by the afternoon.
