Mexico City still facing atmospheric pollution

Up to 145 IMECA points were measured in the municipality of Naucalpan.

The Valley of Mexico is still facing bad air quality, with up to 145 points of pollution according to the Metropolitan Air Quality Index (IMECA) in the municipality of Naucalpan, in the State of Mexico.

According to the Atmospheric Monitoring System (Simat), at 4:00 p.m. most of Mexico City presented bar air conditions in at least 15 districts, while the neighboring State of Mexico presents a similar situation in 12 municipalities.

The air quality is average in the metropolitan district of Milpa Alta, and the municipalities of Chalco, Valle de Chalco, Ixtapaluca, Chicoloapan, Texcoco, Acolman, Tecámac, Tonanitla, Tultitlán, Nextlalpan, Tultepec, Melchor Ocampo, Cuautitlán, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Teoloyucan and Tepotzlán.

Previously, the Simat reported 147 IMECA points in Azcapotzalco, meaning that the air quality improved by just two points from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

In light of the situation, the authorities are recommending children, older adults and people who exercise or present respiratory and cardiovascular diseases to limit their outdoor activities.
