Mexican singer Gerardo Ortíz, the producers of the video “Fuiste Mía” ("You Were Mine") and the actors who appear in it, have been summoned by Jalisco Prosecutor's Office to testify in the investigation into the alleged links between organized crime and the owners of the property used as a location for the video.
According to State Prosecutor, Eduardo Almaguer Ramírez, the investigation is also aimed to know the origin of the funds used to make this video, criticized by civil organizations and authorities for inciting violence against women.
Ortíz, who won a Grammy nomination for best Norteño album, is often described as a singer of “narcocorridos”, or narco ballads, songs which chronicle Mexico’s violent drug wars.
