At least 25 of the 28 people killed in the explosion at the Pajaritos petrochemical complex have been identified and handed over to their families, according to reports.

"It is very important that it has been done without interruption," expressed the Attorney General of Veracruz, Luis Angel Bravo Contreras.

In the last statement from state oil company Pemex it was reported that only three bodies have not been identified.

The remaining bodies will be subjected to DNA testing in order to determine their identities.

The identification process is particularly grueling for the relatives of the victims, who are presented with a series of numbered pictures that they have to match their missing family member.

Then, they are transferred to a room containing the black body bags holding the remains of their relatives.

Finally, after the relatives identify the victim, the experts conduct the lab tests needed to confirm the identity of the human remains.
