A fight for the possession of some 500 acres of farmland in the “El Gavilán” hill area has left at least 12 wounded and a dozen houses and many vehicles on fire in the municipality of Tlahuelilpan, Hidalgo.
At least four of the victims of the fight between the farmers of the communes of Doxey and Tlahuelilpan present bullet impacts, while the rest were hurt with machetes or rocks, according to the head of the police of Tlahuelilpan, Ángel Barañano. The wounded are in local hospitals.
Also, Barrañano added that all the victims come from the area of Tlahuelilpan.
In the meantime, the tensions continue in the area, with armed men still ready to put out a fight there and some people still in their houses, unable to be evacuated.
The state and municipal security forces have also been deployed in the region.
