Montenegro arrests 2 on U.S. warrant for arms trafficking

The suspects are accused of supplying an international criminal organization active in the U.S., Mexico and Western Europe with cocaine and large quantities of destructive weapons.

Montenegrin police say they have arrested a Turk and a Syrian wanted on a U.S. warrant for arms trafficking and for smuggling 200 kilograms (440 pounds) of cocaine.

Police say 48-year-old G.M. from Turkey and 49-year-old S.K. from Syria were arrested Friday following a months-long joint operation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Police say the suspects are accused of supplying an international criminal organization active in the U.S., Mexico and Western Europe with cocaine and "large quantities of destructive weapons."
