The Zika virus has infected 53 mothers to be among 222 cases in Mexico, most of them concentrated in the state of Chiapas, with the rest in Oaxaca and Veracruz.

According to the latest report of the Directorate of Epidemiology of the Health Ministry, dated April 11, 112 of the cases are in Chiapas and 85 in Oaxaca.

Guerrero follows with nine cases while Veracruz and Nuevo León with four cases. The western states of Jalisco and Michoacán have two each, while Nayarit, Sinaloa, Tabasco and Yucatán have one each.

Out of the 53 mothers to be, 37 are from Chiapas, 14 from Oaxaca and two from Veracruz, according to the report.
