Stolen radioactive source located in Mexico

It was found near a road in Acambay, State of Mexico.

The Coordinator for Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior, Luis Felipe Puente, reported that the Federal Police has located the radioactive source stolen in San Juan del Río, Querétaro, last February 27.

On Twitter, Puente pointed out that the National Commission for Nuclear Safety and Safeguards will be responsible for the recuperation of the source.

The radioactive source of iridium-192 was reportedly found along the stolen Chevrolet Silverado which was transporting it when it was stolen in the town of San Juan del Río, Querétaro.
