The cases of people infected with Zika in Mexico have increased from 121 to 143 in nine states during the last week, and 20 mothers to be are being monitored in order to discard any possibilities of microcephalic babies.

A report from the Ministry of Health, dated on March 4, indicates that the southern state of Chiapas presents the largest number of cases, with 72, followed by Oaxaca with 56.

Guerrero is in third place with five cases, while Nuevo León presents four. Jalisco, on the western seaboard, has two; and Michoacán, Sinaloa, Veracruz and Yucatán have one each.

The number of pregnant women with traces of the virus sees Chiapas with 17, two in Oaxaca and one in Veracruz.
