Gonzalo Contreras Rincón, Mexican accused of drug trafficking in Spain, met with staff from the Mexican consulate in Madrid who pledged to review his case and apply for expulsion if he decides to do so.

"I felt very good after talking with them, I felt more accompanied, listened to and supported than in the past," said Contreras, imprisoned in Spain for three years.

In a telephone interview with Ciro Gómez Leyva, Contreras explained that the expulsion, "is a legal resource for foreigners in which the remainder of the sentence is replaced with expulsion from the national territory".
