At least 182 people have been killed in Mexico after contracting influenza on all its variants, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

The Ministry added that 5,915 cases have been reported during the current flu season, with an increase of 125 per cent compared with last year.

Out of that total, 2,408 cases correspond to the type A, H1N1 variant virus, while 2,309 correspond to the type A, H3N2 variant. Also, 960 of the cases were caused by type B influenza and 238 by type A.

So far, most of the deaths were caused by H1N1, with a total of 140. Just 24 correspond to H1N1, ten to type B and eight to type A.
