A federal judge dropped the charges against Subcommander Marcos and 12 other members of the National Zapatista Liberation Army, derived from their uprising on January 1, 1994, because the crimes expired.

Judge Marcos Dávila Rangel, from Chiapas, dismissed the charges for mutiny, terrorism, rebellion and conspiracy against the rebels, issued on February 1995.

Marcos was also charged with possession and distribution of military-grade weapons, condoning crime and provocation of unlawful acts.
