A shootout between gangs in the municipality of San Ignacio, in the mountains in the Sinaloa-Durango border, left 13 people killed, five of them women.
The Attorney General of the State of Sinaloa, Marco Antonio Higuera Gómez, reported that the incident in the wee hours of last Friday ended with the arrest of two people, who were taken to the Office of the Attorney General for possession of military-grade weapons.
Weapons, bullets and two vehicles, a Chevrolet 4x4 and a 2014 Tacoma pickup, with a theft report, were seized from the suspects.
According to Higuera Gómez, some of the shooters are involved with renown criminal Fernando Cantú Ruelas and some males are relatives of his relative Librado Gamboa Ruelas.
He added that some unarmed people traveling on different vehicles were also attacked.
