Mexico's Ministry of Public Function (SFP) is investigating Carlos Bello Roch, Denver's Mexican consul, accused of using his position to facilitate business for his son.

EL UNIVERSAL reported on February 9 that Bello Roch used his position to promote a non-profit organization registered under his name and the institutional e-mail to recommend his son with Mary E. Ruess, vice president of International Business Developments of Lockheed Martin and her assistant, Gina Bandrowsky.

Virgilio Andrade, Minister of Public Function, confirmed that the diplomat is being investigated.

In the e-mail to his son Carlos Bello Hernández, the consul said that he met with Maria E. Ruess and Bandrowsky in the United States.

"They are planning a trip to Mexico during the week of September 22 and are keen to contact important people in the telecommunications sector in Mexico. I told them about you and that you could introduce them with personalities of the industry, such as the Deputy Minister of Communications, some key officials at the Federal Telecommunications Commission and some business leaders," Bello wrote.

Back then José Ignacio Peralta Sánchez, current governor of Colima, was Deputy Minister of Communications. He was replaced by Mónica Aspe Bernal last year.

In October 2015 Lockheed Martin launched the satellite Morelos 3 for the Mexican government, with a cost of 1.6 billion pesos (US$84.9 million)
