Ulrich Richter, attorney of Humberto Moreira, said that the former governor of Coahuila is not under investigation in the United States, neither in Spain or in Mexico.
In an interview with Radio Fórmula, Richter said the case "is 100% closed in Spain." However, he added that it is open for other people included in the investigation, such as Javier Villareal, former finance secretary under Moreira.
He explained that the Spanish judge has no jurisdiction over the case because the companies are based and operate in Mexico.
Richter added that the U.S. government is investigating Villareal and that the former chairman of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) is "completely clean".
