A group of 22 people, identified by the authorities as financial operators for the Pacific Cartel, have been arrested by the Federal Police in the state of Sonora.
The Pacific Cartel was headed by Joaquín Guzmán Loera, "El Chapo," currently in a maximum security prison.
According to the authorities, other two suspects were killed.
"The intelligence activities of the Federal Police in Mexico allowed to dismantle an operating center allegedly used by the criminal group ... in the municipality of Plutarco Elías Calles, Sonora," expressed a press release.
The document added that drugs and migrants kept prisoner were found during the operation.
The action was carried in collaboration with the U.S. authorities, who provided information on the routes for entry of the drugs into their territory.
According to the information received, the Mexican authorities zeroed on a house in the town of Sonoyta, close to the U.S. border.
The Federal Police approached the area under the cover of BlackHawk helicopters and were received by enemy fire, according to the report.
Along some 550 pounds of probable cannabis, the authorities found the suspects in possession of military grade weapons and equipment.
