The governor of Morelos, Graco Ramírez, expressed that the murder of the Mayor of Temixco, Gisela Mota, is a message to the municipal authorities against the joint security program for the state.

He pointed out that the crime occurs after the Mayor "had publicly expressed her decision to ratify the Joint Command".

The Joint Command puts all security operations in the municipal and state order under a single authority, in order to increase effectiveness and reduce corruption.

In declarations to the media, Ramírez expressed that local and federal authorities have noted that not imposing the Joint Command would cause "a serious security crisis".
