The Government of Canada announced today that it will remove the visa requirements for Mexicans, ending seven years of tension between the two nations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stephane Dion, announced the decision after the Summit of Foreign Affairs Ministers of North America, held in Ottawa.
The visas will be "eliminated, finito, kaput," expressed Dion.
The requirement was unexpectedly imposed in 2009 by former Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
The current Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, promised to eliminate the visa requirement before being elected last October 19.
