Aurelio Nuño Mayer, Minister of Public Education, said that the next school year calendar, that includes 200 days of classes, will be flexible.
He explained that schools will have freedom to choose between having 200 days and 185 days of classes.
For this purpose, a bill will be sent to the Chamber of Deputies to amend section 51 of the General Education Law that establishes the days and hours of classes for basic education.
Nuño Mayer said that the purpose of the proposal is to have a more flexible calendar.
"The directors who choose to have 185 days of classes will have to work longer hours," he explained.
Nuño added that it is necessary to improve time management at schools, because studies have show that only 60% of the time is actually used for education.
