Mexico and Google celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of singer-songwriter José Alfredo Jiménez.
Google Doodle pays tribute to Jiménez, born in 1926 in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, who was one of the most influential artists of ranchera music, with songs like "El Rey", "Caminos de Guanajuato", “Amanecí en Tus Brazos", "Caballo Blanco" and "Un Mundo Raro."
The Mountain View company displays on its home page the popular artist with his mariachi suit and a hat in hand singing his famous songs, whose lyrics are characterized by love and suffering, and nostalgia for rural life.
Many of his songs have been recorded by renowned Spanish-speaking artists.
Like many other Mexican stars of that time, such as Jorge Negrete, Pedro Infante, and Javier Solís, José Alfredo Jiménez died young, he was only forty-seven years old.
