The Attorney General of the State (PGJE) arrested three of the five suspects in connection with the presumed killing of two Australian tourists who went missing last month in the northern state of Sinaloa.
According to the investigations, the thieves allegedly shot Adam Coleman and Dean Lucas to death, then doused their van with gasoline and set it on fire.
The van and the bodies were found on November 21 in a rural area of Navolato, Sinaloa, near Topolobampo, after police received a citizen complaint of an abandoned vehicle in the area.
Yesterday, Attorney of the state Marco Antonio Higuera Gómez said the bodies found inside the van have not yet been positively identified. Tests are continuing. But the van's vehicle identification number matched one registered to Coleman in Canada.
Sergio Simón Benítez González, Julio César González Muñiz and Martín Rogelio Muñiz Ponce are the three suspects arrested, according to the authorities report.
The three suspects confessed they stopped the van after it passed a toll booth, pretending to be police officers.
The prosecutor said two other suspects, Luis Enrique and / or José Luis Espinoza and Jesús Uriel Camacho Labrada are still at large.
