Two workers lost their lives this afternoon after a collapse in a hydraulic network in the municipality of Cocotitlán, according to the Commission of Public Safety of the State of Mexico.
According to the reports, at 3:35 p.m., the drainage works in the community of Zula presented a collapse and the workers were buried.
Police, firemen and Civil Protection officers from Cocotitlán, Chalco and Amecameca arrived at the area to rescue the workers, who nevertheless died.
According to a local woman identified as Alberta Arce García, one of the deceased workers is her 23-year-old son Fernando Arce Esquivel.
The authorities are trying to determine if the collapse was caused by today's earthquake in the central areas of the country.
