The wife of Osvaldo Martínez, player of the Águilas America soccer team, was deprived of her freedom in her own home by a couple of men who tied her hands and feet and stripped her of more than US$18,000.
Last Wednesday morning, while the midfielder trained with his team south of Mexico City, 31-year-old Bruno Alberto, driver of the athlete, took his children to school.
After leaving the children, a couple of men intercepted him and forced him to drive them through different areas until they ordered him to take them to the house of the Paraguayan soccer player.
When they arrived at the residence, at 10:00 a.m., they confronted the wife of the player, 24-year-old Tania, and beat her. Afterwards, they tied her and ordered to call her bank and ask for the withdrawal of the money, which would be given to her driver.
On the way back to Martinez's house, the men went to an ATM and withdrew some US$430, before they left the van with the money.
Around 12:30 p.m. Martínez returned to his residence and found out about the incident and reported it to the police. Yesterday, he reportedly had a normal training session.
