Protesters burn patrol, other vehicles in Tehuantepec

Protesters in the municipality of Tehuantepec burned four official vehicles on Tuesday, in reaction to the collision of a taxi bike and a patrol car, which left two injured.

The first vehicle to be burned was the patrol while the police officers involved in the incident were retained by the protesters.

Hours later, the officers and other 10 municipal officers detained by the locals were released in a joint operation by the Department of Public Security, the State Investigation Agency and the Government General Department.

In response, the villagers set fire to a patrol bike, a compact car and another patrol.

The police ended arresting about 200 villagers for their alleged responsibility in the incidents.
